Welcome to HDLCon 2001!

Now that we are really facing the new millennium, it is time to look forward and see where electronics are taking us. Although few of us have access to thinking machines like 'HAL' in the Movie '2001: A Space Odyssey', and even fewer of us have jet packs to help us in our daily commutes, many of us are now using the precursors of the '2-Way Wrist Radio' made famous by 'Dick Tracy'.

Electronic products are going mobile. They are wireless but still connected to the vast body of people and information available on the Internet. Electronic products are also ubiquitous in the home. Many of the connectivity options available to the world now provide voice, data and entertainment through a single broadband connection.

For the participants of this year's HDL Conference and Exposition this means taking what we know and projecting it into the future. The marketplace will not sit still for 18 months, waiting for a single innovative company to find and fill a new product opportunity.

As the designers and manufacturers of these products, the electronics industry faces some tough challenges over the next few years. If the market is there, be sure that someone will fill it. The challenge is whether your organization will be the one to do so.

Enjoy the conference and the exhibits. You will find the ideas and tools you need to meet the future.
