Tutorial 1 • VHDL :A Practical Introduction

This tutorial is intended to introduce students to VHDL. Students will become familiar with all of VHDL's design units, and many of its declarations, specifications, and statements. Students will understand how these elements work together to describe the structure, data flow, and behavior of a digital system. The course focuses on the language rather than on specific tools. However, the generic capabilities of various tools are discussed. Throughout the tutorial, examples are extensively used to illustrate specific features.
