DVCon Speaker Frequently Asked Questions

In-depth information is given in the acceptance letter on October 29, 2008. Refer to that letter for additional information regarding your presentation at DVCon 2009.

How do I update my contact information?

Do I have to register for the conference?
Yes. DVCon will send out registration instructions for all presenters. There is a discounted fee for speakers, and a special code will be sent to you by January 18, 2009.
Speakers: $225.

Where do I pick up my conference badge?
During the on-site registration hours, pick up your badge at the Bayshore Foyer.

On-site Hours:
Tuesday, February 24 from 7:00am to 6:30pm
Wednesday, February 25 from 7:00am to 6:30pm
Thursday, February 26 from 8:00am to 4:00pm

Is there a room reserved for speaker preparation?
No. Be sure to bring a copy of your PowerPoint slides to load on the desktop computer in the room where your paper is being presented. There is no speaker breakfast or A/V practice room at DVCon, so please take the time to load your slides early and be sure they display properly.

What audio-visual equipment will be in the session room?
All meeting rooms will be equipped with an LCD projector, screen, microphones, laser pointer, speaker timer, and a computer for your presentation. There will also be connections for laptops.

How long does my presentation need to be?
Your paper is allocated 25 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions and answers.

Where will my paper and PowerPoint presentation appear?
You paper will be included on the DVCon 2009 CD-ROM which is distributed to registered attendees. A printed version of the Proceedings will also be available for $50. The PowerPoint presentations will not be distributed.

Is there a speaker's orientation at DVCon?
No.

What guidelines do I need to follow in preparing my presentation?
See the acceptance letter that was sent to all speakers/correspondents on October 29, 2008, and the AV guidelines provided on the DVCon website. Presentations should be in PowerPoint format. Click here for a recommended template.

Is there a discount rate for the hotel?
Yes, the DoubleTree San Jose Hotel is offering DVCon attendees a discounted room rate of $199 for a single or double occupancy if reservations by January 30. More information is available on the Travel & Hotel page.
