EVENT TYPE: PANELDeep Learning –– Reshaping the Verification Landscape or Business as Usual?
Jean-Marie Brunet - Mentor, A Siemens Business
Nanette Collins - Nanette V. Collins Marketing and Public Relations
The semiconductor industry waits in breathless anticipation for news about the next Artificial Intelligence startup. No one needs to wait long –– one estimate has more than 80 startups working on AI accelerator chips that will be used across all market segments. They join cloud giants Amazon, Alibaba, Baidu, Facebook, Google and Microsoft, all designing AI accelerator chips as well. Not to be outdone, Intel sells $1 billion in chips to support AI. It’s easy to understand why AI is the latest craze to hit the industry and why so much investment is pouring in. AI techniques popularly known as deep learning are pushing traditional CPU and GPU architectures to a different level. This new emphasis has the potential to create an upheaval in chip design and chip design verification that could require a new methodology and tools to verify chip designs. Moderator Jean-Marie Brunet from Mentor, a Siemens Business, will take panelists, who include experts in AI and chip design verification, through various scenarios to determine how AI and deep learning will reshape the semiconductor industry. They will look carefully at the chip design verification landscape to access whether it’s equipped to handle this new and potentially exciting area. Audience members will be encouraged to bring questions and opinions to ensure a lively and thought-provoking panel session.
