Computational Logistics to Maximize Verification

The EDA industry is a key participant in establishing a new global epoch. Intelligence is transforming a wide range of applications from smart cities to smart homes, mobile phones to automobiles, retail to manufacturing, and healthcare to entertainment. At the core of this transformation are advances in computational science, including the discovery of new techniques for machine learning and deep learning, that are inspiring a new generation of semiconductor technologies. The EDA industry is also being transformed. Throughput in functional verification has been the key value for years, and experienced engineers traditionally have been required to guide the journey of a design to successful tapeout. The incorporation of deep learning techniques draws from the skills of many engineers to explore optimal solutions and achieve better PPA results. This talk examines these transformations and highlights how deep learning brings a shift in perspective to functional verification, charting a path beyond current practices towards Intelligent System Design for an AI-enabled future.
Biography: Anirudh Devgan has served as President of Cadence since 2018, overseeing strategy, all research and development for tool and flows, marketing, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to 2018, he was Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Digital & Signoff and System & Verification groups.

Prior to joining Cadence in 2012, Devgan was General Manager and Corporate Vice President of the Custom Design Business Unit at Magma Design Automation. Previous roles include management and technical positions at IBM, where he received numerous awards including the IBM Outstanding Innovation Award. Devgan is an IEEE Fellow, has written numerous research papers, and holds several patents.

Devgan received a Bachelor of Technology degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and MS and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
